ADTA 60th Annual Conference

Dance/Movement Therapy: Deepening Community Care

"Planting seeds, extending branches, growing together."

The ADTA is hosting its 60th Annual Conference November 6-9, 2025 in Raleigh, NC - the 'City of Oaks'.

The ADTA at 60

The ADTA is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2025, marking what is known as kanreki in Japan—rebirth or re-entry into childhood—as it completes a full cycle of the Chinese zodiac calendar, the Year of the Wood Snake. Known for its ability to molt, the snake symbolizes resurrection and regeneration. The oak, representing the element of wood, embodies growth, flexibility, and tolerance. The color red, often associated with luck and prosperity, holds a prominent place in kanreski celebrations - as red (aka-chan) is commonly associated with babies, and as such denotes someone going through a rebirth.

We invite you to join us in celebrating this milestone and contribute to our shared journey of rebirth, growth and transformation.

This conference will be held on the traditional land of the Coharie, Cherokee, Haliwa-Saponi, Lumbee, Meherrin, Occaneechi, Sappony and Waccamaw-Siouan nations.
