Research and Thesis Poster Session

The ADTA Research and Practice Committee hosts an annual Research & Thesis Project Poster Session. Accepted posters are presented at the conference by the authors with time for viewing and discussion among conference attendees, and a selection of abstracts from the poster session will be published in the American Journal of Dance Therapy.

At this time All Poster Sessions for 2021 have been chosen. Updated submission information will be provided in 2022. 

2021 Poster Session Requirements

Submissions are due between June 15 and July 15, 2021. Please submit all poster session proposals to coordinators Cecilia Fontanesi and Karolina Bryl at [email protected]. Late submissions will not be accepted. Notification of acceptance will be made by August 15.

Submissions should be sent in electronic format via email as a Word document. Please follow the guidelines below. All elements of a research study are required, and those that do not include #1, 2, 3, 4 will not be accepted.  

Poster Session Elements for Submission

  1. Poster Title (Centered, bold top of page, 14 points, Times New Roman)
  2. Poster Abstract (APA style - 6th Edition, 300 words maximum, 12-point Times New Roman) that includes:
    1. Explicitly identified research questions and/or objectives of the study
    2. Clearly articulated research methods including sample, data collection and analysis
    3. Presentation of research results
    4. Discussion of the findings in relation to the research question(s)
    5. Conclusions including limitations of the study and relevance of findings to the field of dance/movement therapy
  3. Presenter(s) name(s), and primary presenter’s email with a biography (50 words max) and a picture for the ADTA website.
  4. All submissions should be sent in electronic format via email as a Word documentPlease include “Poster Session” followed by your last name in the subject line.

If you feel that your thesis work does not fit under these guidelines, please contact the coordinators at [email protected] PRIOR to the deadline date. You may be asked to edit, revise, or clarify your abstract or biography prior to acceptance.

You MUST be present at the Virtual conference for your poster to be displayed. We won’t accept submissions without attendance of the presenter at the Virtual Poster Session as the discussions that occur during the poster session are rich and important to our poster session format.

Note: The Research and Practice committee will submit a selection of abstracts for publication in the American Journal of Dance Therapy.
